Ambassador to South Korea Praises Utahans for Support of Free Trade Agreement

His Excellency Duk-Soo Han, Ambassador to the United States for the Republic of Korea, visited Utah on Wednesday as part of a speaking circuit sponsored by the Korea Economic Institute. During his trip, he attended a round-table at Brigham Young University where over a 100 students were present and eager to learn more about Korea. He also met with Lt. Gov. Bell and attended a dinner reception in Salt Lake where leaders of government and local businesses were present.

At the dinner Ambassador Han thanked Utahans for their support of the recently signed Free Trade Agreement with the United States, and noted that Senator Hatch and others played a vital role in its negotiation and ratification. He was optimistic about the new opportunities for small and medium-sized Utah companies in Korea thanks to the newly signed FTA. Ambassador Han also praised Utah for the many residents who speak Korean as a second-language.Traveling with the Ambassador was Kathleen Stephens, former Ambassador to the Republic of Korea for the United States, along with Jack Pritchard, President of the Korea Economic Institute and former U.S. negotiator with North Korea.
